Electrical Final Standards Checklist
Section 1: Final Installation & Commissioning Checklist
- Devices installed neatly and aligned: All switches, receptacles, and cover plates
installed straight, level, and flush with wall surfaces. - Lighting fixtures installed correctly: Fixtures mounted securely, centered, and
oriented per design with no damage or missing parts. - All bulbs and trims installed: Verify all specified lamps and trims are installed,
functional, and matching design intent. - Panel labeling completed: All circuits clearly and permanently labeled with accurate
room and load descriptions. - Breaker labeling legible: Panel schedule corresponds with installed circuits and is
easy to read. - Grounding and bonding verified: All metallic systems bonded per code; grounding
conductors connected to panel and water line as required. - Arc-fault and GFCI devices tested: All required circuits protected and tested for
proper trip and reset function. - Smoke and CO detectors installed: All detectors installed per code locations, powered,
and interconnected. - Exterior lighting and outlets tested: All outdoor fixtures and GFCI receptacles
operational and weatherproof covers installed. - Receptacles tested for polarity and voltage: Each receptacle tested for correct wiring,
grounding, and voltage within acceptable range. - Switches and dimmers tested: All control devices function correctly, dim smoothly,
and control intended loads. - Ceiling fans balanced and tested: Fans operate quietly, on all speeds, and without
noticeable wobble. - Appliance circuits verified: Dedicated circuits installed and energized for required
appliances (oven, range, microwave, etc.). - Lighting controls programmed: Smart switches, timers, and scenes configured to
homeowner preferences if applicable. - Doorbell and low-voltage systems tested: Verify chime, transformers, and any
control wiring (security, data, A/V) are operational. - Electrical trim complete: No exposed wiring; blank plates installed on all unused
openings. - Electrical devices clean and undamaged: No paint, dust, or scratches on trim or
fixtures. - Panel cover installed securely: Deadfront properly fitted, with all breakers seated and
labeling visible. - Final inspection passed: System approved by electrical inspector and ready for
occupancy. - Work area cleaned: All debris removed, fixtures wiped down, and site left in clean
condition.
